KILIMANJARO UMBWE ROUTE COST

The Umbwe Route is one of the shortest but also the most challenging and demanding routes to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The cost of climbing via the Umbwe Route can vary significantly depending on various factors such as the trekking agency, the length of the trek, the size of the group, and the level of service, but it typically ranges from $1,928 to $2,460 per person. This umbwe route cost usually includes park fees, camping fees, rescue fees, guide and porter fees, meals, and transportation, but excludes tips, personal trekking gear, and flights.

The Umbwe route is a challenging and less popular route than the Marangu route, and it is therefore also less expensive. This is because the route is shorter and has fewer huts and campsites along the way, which means that there are lower park fees and accommodation costs. Additionally, the Umbwe route is often not guided, which means that you can save money by carrying your gear and hiring porters only when necessary.
