Dry Season: June marks the beginning of Kilimanjaro’s long dry season (June to October), characterized by clear skies and minimal rainfall.
Daytime Temperatures: At lower elevations (e.g., the rainforest zone), temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F).
Nighttime Temperatures: At higher elevations, especially near the summit, temperatures can drop well below freezing, often reaching -10°C to -20°C (14°F to -4°F).
Wind Chill: Strong winds are common at higher altitudes, making the cold feel even more intense.
Early June: This period may still see some residual rain from the wet season, but conditions are generally improving.
Late June: The dry season is in full swing, with clearer skies and more stable weather.
Full Moon Climbs: Many climbers aim for summit attempts during the full moon for better visibility and a magical experience under the moonlight.
Lemosho Route: Known for its scenic beauty and excellent acclimatization profile. It’s less crowded and ideal for June conditions.
Machame Route: A popular route with varied terrain and good acclimatization opportunities.
Rongai Route: The only northern approach, which is drier and less crowded, making it a great option for June.
Marangu Route: Often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” it’s the only route with hut accommodations, but it’s less scenic and has a lower success rate due to poor acclimatization.
