What is The Best Time of Year to Climb Mt Kilimanjaro?

Most porters will tell you June to October and December to February are the best times to climb Kilimanjaro as usually, these are the times of the year with less rain. There are tours available to join all year round though.

How much does it cost to climb Kilimanjaro Family?

Most trips and expeditions last around 8 – 12 days and If you would like to climb Kilimanjaro, the price for a 10-day round trip from Marangu /Moshi will start from USD 10,600 for a family of four (excluding international flights). It depends on the trip you choose, the company you go with, and the time of year. Sometimes if you make a booking early or late very close to the departure date, or book in a group of 2 or more you will be able to get a discounted rate. This is one of the world’s best trips, the views are amazing whilst the sense of achievement you will feel as you reach the summit is incomparable. 

Mount Kilimanjaro family climb itinerary

If you are seeking a more active break, consider a trek to climb Africa’s highest mountain Mount Kilimanjaro which is over 5,000m tall! It might sound like a scary prospect but it is not impossible, there are plenty of safe guided tours and treks and if you have a moderate level of health and fitness you will be able to join a climbing trip.

There are lots of different tours available, we recommend a steady longer 6  -10-day trek so you can acclimate to the altitude. Seeing the sunrise from the top is a magical experience that not many people have seen but if this experience doesn’t appeal to you could you just visit the base camp and admire the views?


This is the easiest & shortest route to Kilimanjaro’s summit & is known as the “Coca-Cola” or “tourist” route. From USD 2450 per person sharing 


The Lemosho route is one of our preferred routes due to its beautiful scenery and high summit success rate. From USD 2680 per person sharing 


Machame Route or the “whiskey route” is one of the most popular routes due to its picturesque views. From USD 2550 per person sharing


The Northern Circuit is the newest and longest route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It begins in the West at the Londorossi Gate. From USD 2990 per person sharing

Note: You are responsible for bringing the required, recommended, and optional personal gear and equipment listed below. Be very selective in what you take with you, our porters are limited to carrying 15kg of your personal belongings. Communal equipment such as tents, food utensils et cetera is provided.
