Most porters will tell you June to October and December to February are the best times to climb Kilimanjaro as usually, these are the times of the year with less rain. There are tours available to join all year round though.
Most trips and expeditions last around 8 – 12 days and If you would like to climb Kilimanjaro, the price for a 10-day round trip from Marangu /Moshi will start from USD 10,600 for a family of four (excluding international flights). It depends on the trip you choose, the company you go with, and the time of year. Sometimes if you make a booking early or late very close to the departure date, or book in a group of 2 or more you will be able to get a discounted rate. This is one of the world’s best trips, the views are amazing whilst the sense of achievement you will feel as you reach the summit is incomparable.
If you are seeking a more active break, consider a trek to climb Africa’s highest mountain Mount Kilimanjaro which is over 5,000m tall! It might sound like a scary prospect but it is not impossible, there are plenty of safe guided tours and treks and if you have a moderate level of health and fitness you will be able to join a climbing trip.
There are lots of different tours available, we recommend a steady longer 6 -10-day trek so you can acclimate to the altitude. Seeing the sunrise from the top is a magical experience that not many people have seen but if this experience doesn’t appeal to you could you just visit the base camp and admire the views?
