Climbing Kilimanjaro in November

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in November presents unique challenges and opportunities.

Climbing Kilimanjaro in November Weather and temperature

November is generally not considered an ideal time to climb Kilimanjaro because of the possibility of rain, slippery conditions, and less visibility:

November
Weather
Short rainy season with more rain, less stable weather patterns, and rain every day for a short period
Conditions
Slippery ground, muddy conditions, and less visibility
Views
Poor mountain views and less visibility
Temperature
Cold temperatures at high altitude, with wind chill being a major factor
However, some say that the mountain is quieter during this time, which can be a plus. Others recommend the Rongai route or Northern circuit route as the northern side of the mountain is more sheltered and has less rainfall.  The main wet season on Kilimanjaro is mid-March to early June, when conditions can be unsafe.
